Gastric Botox in Turkey typically costs $900–$1,800 for the procedure, and up to about $2,500 for an all-inclusive package with hotel and transfers. The price depends on the hospital, the dose used and what the package covers.

Common side effects are mild and short-lived: sore throat from the endoscope, nausea, bloating, reflux or feeling full quickly. A rare but serious risk is botulism if the toxin spreads, which causes double vision, drooping eyelids and difficulty swallowing or breathing and needs emergency care.

The evidence is limited. A 2023 meta-analysis of six randomised trials found no significant difference in weight loss between gastric Botox and placebo. Some people feel less hungry for a while, but lasting results depend on diet and activity.

Botulinum toxin wears off gradually, so any effect on appetite is temporary and usually fades within a few months. It is not a permanent change to the stomach.

It can be done safely, but in 2023 a botulism outbreak was reported in European patients treated in Turkey. Choose a licensed hospital endoscopy unit, ask for the product name and dose in writing, and go to hospital immediately if you develop vision, swallowing or breathing problems.

It is not advised during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for people with neuromuscular disorders such as myasthenia gravis, or with a known allergy to botulinum toxin. A doctor also checks for stomach conditions before the procedure.
